Meet Lucy Hinds, a dynamic member of our CrossFit Fairfield community with a rich background in fitness and an admirable military service record. Lucy’s fitness journey began with running, leading her to complete 2 full marathons and 8 half marathons. Her dedication to physical activity extended into her 7 years of service in the United States Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where her roles ranged from human resources to participating in airborne operations—yes, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes!
Since joining CrossFit Fairfield in February, Lucy has embarked on a new challenge: building strength. Always known for her speed, especially for her stature, Lucy has been working hard to complement her swiftness with increased strength. She's been making impressive progress, tackling new skills like double-unders, rope climbs, and even conquering her fears with box jumps, despite a lingering phobia of "busting her shin."
Lucy’s advice to anyone hesitant about joining CrossFit is simple and enthusiastic: “Just COME IN!” She promises a warm welcome by a community ready to cheer you on, regardless of your skill level. According to Lucy, CrossFit is for "EVERY ONE and EVERY BODY."
One of her proudest moments so far was competing in the Donor Games, where she placed 4th in the scaled women's group among other athletes from CrossFit Fairfield. This experience not only challenged her but also deepened her connection with her gym family.
Currently, Lucy is laser-focused on mastering pull-ups, a goal that has eluded her most of her adult life. She’s confident that with her determination and the support of the CrossFit Fairfield family, she’ll soon be celebrating this achievement.
Lucy's journey highlights the unique blend of community support and personal growth found at CrossFit Fairfield. She cherishes the friendships and the motivational environment that makes everyone feel like they belong to a supportive family.
